The Divergent Series is a science-fiction franchise based on the book series by author Veronica Roth. Set in a dystopian future, the first novel, Divergent, was released in 2011 and it was followed by two sequels: Insurgent (2012) and Allegiant (2013).
The films follow Beatrice ‘Tris’ Prior as she navigates her way through the dangerous world of post-apocalyptic Chicago. Tris must choose one of five factions to join, each representing a different set of values.
As she discovers secrets about herself and the city, however, she finds that her decision could threaten the entire society. The films star Shailene Woodley as Tris and Theo James as Four, with supporting roles from Kate Winslet and Miles Teller. Unfortunately, none of the films in The Divergent Series are currently available on Netflix.
